Instructions:
Print the Template
Download and print the free PDF template on white paper. The template includes the caterpillar’s head, eyes, antennae tips, legs, and base shape.

Cut Out the Template Pieces
Carefully cut out all the shapes from the template.

Transfer to Colored Paper
Trace the large rectangle 4 times onto colored paper (yellow, red, blue, and orange). These will wrap around the toilet paper rolls to form the caterpillar’s body.

Trace the leaf base onto green cardstock.
Cut the head circle, antennae tips, and oval legs from yellow cardstock.
Cut two small rectangles (antennae) from black cardstock.
Use the printed eyes from the template or create your own from white and black paper.
Assemble the Head
Glue the eyes onto the yellow head circle. Attach the black antennae and glue yellow circles at the top. Use a black marker to draw a cute smile.

Wrap the Rolls
Wrap each toilet paper roll with a colored rectangle and glue.

Decorate the Base
Draw leaf veins on the green cardstock using a black marker to make it look more realistic.

Attach the Rolls
Arrange the four colored rolls on the green base. Secure each one to the base using tape at the bottom of each roll.

Add the Head and Legs
Glue the caterpillar’s head to the front yellow roll.

Then, attach the yellow oval legs at the bottom of each roll. This also helps to hide any tape.

Your Caterpillar Pencil Holder Is Ready!
Now you have an adorable and functional caterpillar made from recycled toilet paper rolls. It’s perfect for holding pencils, pens, markers, and more!
