- White printer paper
- Scissors
- Colored cardstock (black, red, or brown)
- Glue or double-sided tape

Instructions:
Print the Template
Download and print the free PDF template on white paper.
Cut Out the Pieces
Carefully cut out all the pieces from the printed sheet. You will see different numbered parts and a pair of eyes.
Transfer to Cardstock
Trace and cut the pieces onto colored cardstock. Here’s what each piece represents:
- Part #1 – Rear segment of the ant
- Part #2 – Middle segment (thorax)
- Part #3 – Head
- Part #4 – Base
- Part #5 – Leg (make 6 of these)
- Part #6 – Antenna (make 2 of these)
- Eyes – use the ones provided in the template or add googly eyes
Form the Body
Curl parts #1, #2, and #3 into rings and secure with glue or double-sided tape. These will become the three main body segments of the ant.
Assemble the Ant
Glue the three body segments in order onto the base (part #4).
Add the Legs
Fold each leg (part #5) in half, then bend the tips to form “feet.” This step is important to give your ant a realistic shape. Attach all six legs to the base.
Add the Details
Glue on the eyes and draw a smile on the head segment with a black marker. Finish by attaching the two antennae (part #6) to the top of the head.
Your cute paper ant is now ready to crawl into your display! This craft is a perfect addition to an insect-themed lesson or simply a creative afternoon at home.
