Groundhog Day, celebrated on February 2nd each year, is a beloved tradition in North America, particularly in the United States and Canada. Originating from ancient European weather lore, this quirky holiday involves observing the behavior of a groundhog, famously Punxsutawney Phil in Pennsylvania, to predict the arrival of spring. According to folklore, if the groundhog emerges from its burrow and sees its shadow, it will retreat back underground, indicating six more weeks of winter. However, if it doesn’t see its shadow, it will remain outside, suggesting an early spring.
