Materials Needed:

White cardstock

Cardboard (optional, for extra durability)

Cotton buds (Q-tips)

Colored pencils, markers, or paints (for the black-and-white template)

Glue

Scissors

Modeling clay or playdough

Instructions:

Print the template on white cardstock.

If you are using the black-and-white version, color the details with colored pencils, markers, or paints.

Carefully cut out all the pieces — two green leaves and the round background with the dandelion stem.

For added strength, glue the round background onto a piece of cardboard.

Shape a small ball of modeling clay (we used gray) and place it in the center of the circle where the dandelion head will go. Slightly flatten the clay so it sticks well to the paper.

Cut the cotton buds in half. These will be the fluffy seeds of the dandelion.

Insert each cotton bud piece into the clay, arranging them close together to form a round, fluffy dandelion head.

Once the flower head is complete, glue the two leaves under the stem.

Your adorable dandelion craft is ready!

Benefits of This Craft for Kids

This activity helps children develop fine motor skills, hand–eye coordination, and creativity. It encourages patience and focus as kids carefully insert the cotton buds and arrange them to make the dandelion fluffy.
